CEO Warrior Shahira Marei on Balance | Irvine Moms
I don’t believe in a work life balance. I believe in balancing everything at the time you are doing it so for example, if I’m at work for the next 8 hours that is my only focus.
When I’m at home with my 5 year old daughter, she is my only focus. No matter how long I have with my daughter, I make sure the time spent is quality. Having a startup and being a wife and mother is not easy to say the least. You need a good support system around you. I have my mom, god bless her who has supported me since day one of starting my business. There is no way I would be this far without her support and help with my daughter.
Success to me means achieving your goals, no matter how big or small. I don’t believe in failure either. I believe it is all a learning process. If things don’t go the way I plan, I just learn and pivot from that direction.
I realized late last year that I needed mentors. Life has changed since I’ve had mentors. One of my mentors Kalika Yap, runs 4 companies and is on a mission to empower female entrepreneurs and has been a great mentor.
