Girls Scouts Irvine Brooke Fuller | Irvine Moms

Brooke, Can you tell us about the Girl Scouts of Orange County Organization?

Girl Scouts is the world’s premier leadership development experience for girls. Since 1912, Girl Scouts has given girls the necessary tools to lead, break barriers, and create positive change. Girl Scouts are the girls and young women who dream big and do bigger. In Orange County, our membership is 33,000 strong—made up of nearly 20,000 girls and 13,000 adults who believe in the power of every G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™ to change the world. With programs in every zip code in Orange County, Girl Scouts offers every girl opportunities to practice a lifetime of leadership, adventure, and success.

What is your Role with the Girls Scouts of Orange County?

I am a Recruitment Specialist at Girl Scouts of Orange County. It is my job to share the fun and excitement of Girl Scouts and the benefits of our girl-led leadership development experience with prospective girls and their families. From making a difference in their community and the world, to exploring the sciences and going on awesome outdoor adventures, Girl Scouts is a place for every girl to discover her full potential and make friends.

The best thing about being a part of the Girls Scouts of Orange County is?

The best thing about being part of the staff at Girl Scouts of Orange County (GSOC) is knowing that our incredible team is working alongside thousands of volunteers to bring new experiences to girls all across the OC. I love being able to see firsthand how our efforts excite, enrich, and brighten each girl’s life as they make the world a better place.

What is your best experience thus far?

One of my favorite experiences was probably my very first recruitment event. I had about 26 families pack into the arts and crafts room at University Park Community Center. I got to see the excitement on each little girl’s face as they participated in activities and learned what it meant to be a Girl Scout, and then watched the parents’ faces light up as they watched their little girls make new friends and have fun. Seeing the Girl Scout experience come to life is one of the most rewarding things about my job.

What are the upcoming events to let the community know about, that are open to the public?

We would like to invite anyone in the area with a daughter in grades K-12 to come and join us at a Discover Girl Scouts Info Night. These events are open to girls and their families, and are held at elementary schools and community centers throughout the county. The events are a great opportunity to experience the fun of Girl Scouts for yourself and to get information about joining a troop.
