Have you ever flipped through the design magazines and wondered if you can have that bathroom on a budget? When it comes to remodeling your bathroom, you can either spend as little as $1000 and as high as $100,000. Well, if you are thinking about remodeling your bathroom but don’t want to spend too much money, you might want to consider trying these design ideas below to revamp your space without breaking the bank!

1.Peel and stick tile

The biggest change you can make in your bathroom is to redo the flooring. Since demoing tile and installing it can be very pricey, the easy way to make a big difference in your space is to use peel and stick vinyl tiles. They come in many patterns and colors and they are so easy to install without the need of hiring a professional. Some stores carry them in sheets that cane be cut into size, or they can be purchaded in 12×12 tile sizes.

  1. Add backsplash

If you are a DIYer, adding backsplash is another easy way to add interest in your bathroom. You don’t have to choose the most expensive tile to make your space look fancy! For example you can use a simple white penny tile or scalloped shape tile and use a darker grout to accent it.

Another affordable way to add texture is to use shiplap. These wood boards (commonly called shiplap because of the way they interlock) are a great way to make any bathroom feel cozy without the use of tile. You can simply cut to size, nail to the wall, and paint or stain! If you decide to use wood shiplap make sure to seal it properly to make it last longer.

3.Refinish the vanity

Another affordable idea to remodel your bathroom is to refinish your vanity. You can either stain or paint it any color you like! If you don’t want to buy a new vanity or call a professional, simply sand the vanity, prime and stains it. When it comes to painting cabinets, if you want to get the best result you can use an enamel based paint. New cabinets can be very expensive and by painting or staining your vanity you can save money and paint it to whatever color you like!

4.Update the plumbing fixtures

If you are not handy when it comes to plumbing, it’s better to call a professional for this to make sure everything is being installed correctly. Changing your outdated plumbing fixture not only makes your space look better but also can help to save you money if you purchase energy efficient fixtures. Whether you like the warmer tones like gold, brass and copper, or cooler tones like stainless steel, nickel, or chrome, make sure you are not using more than two different finishes in the space. Using the same style fixtures also helps to make the space look well designed.

5.Change the hardwares

One of the easiest ways to make your bathroom look brand new is to change the hardwares. If you have decided to paint your vanity, make sure to remove your hardwares like the handles and hinges off before painting and use wood putty to patch the old screw holes. After the paint is dry, you can install the new hardware and assemble the doors back on the vanity. If possible you can use concealed hinges that can be installed inside the cabinet door and will give your design a cleaner look.

6.Paint the walls

Changing the paint in the bathroom can make a huge difference. Using lighter colors helps to make the space feel bigger and more fresh. If you  want to have a little fun, you can use bolder colors or even wallpapers for the guest bathroom to give it the wow factor!

7.Reglaze the tub

If your current tub or prefab shower looks old and stained, the best way to make it look brand new is to reglaze it. Since there is a lot of chemical fume involved for the process of this job, it has to be done by a professional in order to get the best results. Sometimes depending on the style of the tile, they can reglaze the wall shower tiles to match the new tub finish.

8.New lighting & Mirror

Last but not least is to change the old lighting with an updated lighting fixtures to make the space look remodeled top to bottom! It’s always nice to have a general lighting to lighten up the entire space and vanity lights above or on two sides of the mirror. Make sure to match the finish from the light fixtures with other hardwares and finishes in the space.

Brand new mirror can also be a nice addition to the design, feel free to use fun shaped and color mirrors to make your space feel more personalized!
